The biggest NATO exercise of 2017, namely Noble Jump (NOJP17), will take place in June and the goal of the exercise is to prove that the Alliance’s forces are capable to be deployed in a possible crisis area in the shortest time possible since being notified.

The NOJP17 exercise is to be conducted on the soil of Bulgaria, Greece and Romania, and the final destination of the forces deployed within the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) will be the “Getica” Land Forces Combat Training Centre in Cincu, according to a release of the National Defence Ministry (MApN) sent to AGERPRES on Friday.

The NATO approved the Action Plan for the Readiness Action Plan (RAP) at the Summit in Wales in 2014. At the same summit, it was decided to establish in Romania two commandments, namely NATO Force Integration Unit Romania (NFIU) and Headquarters Multinational Division South-East (HQ MND-SE).

The NOJP17 exercise will test the operational capacities of the land elements of the NATO Joint Forces with a high degree of operability (VJTF/L), proving the Alliance’s capacity to implement the RAP on the South-East flank of the NATO, namely Bulgaria and Romania, the release points out.

A number of 11 NATO member states will participate in the exercise: Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Latvia, the UK, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and the US. Out of the approximately 4,000 servicemen involved in the exercise, around 1,900 represent the land forces of the VJTF, who will execute the deployment using approximately 500 of technical means, the MApN mentions.

The HQ MND-SE organized in the period 25 – 27 April the repetition exercise of the operation concept for the NOJP 17.

“The activity conducted in these three days offered the opportunity to the main actors involved in the exercise to successfully verify and validate the deployment concept developed during the planning period,” the MApN informed.
