National Defence Minister Mihai Fifor and the Canadian ambassador to Romania, Kevin Hamilton, on Tuesday have addressed the bilateral cooperation in the military relationship, a release by the relevant ministry (MApN) reads.

The talks focused on the concrete ways to boosting the bilateral military ties and within the North-Atlantic Alliance. The two dignitaries have stressed the significant progress recorded in the Romania-Canada relationship and the favourable outlook for the evolution of military relations.

“During the meeting, Minister Fifor expressed the strong commitment to developing the cooperation between the two armies and thanked for both Canada’s substantial contribution in the air police missions carried out in 2017 in Romania and the decision to continue these activities this year, as part of the NATO plan to strengthen the Alliance’s eastern flank,” the MApN release adds.

Moreover, the two officials have had an opinion swap regarding the boosting of the medical care and psychological cooperation, considering that the MApN has in view to found a psychology and behavioural health national military Centre, as well as to train the Romanian specialty staff in Canadian army’s centres.
