President Klaus Iohannis will attend on Tuesday, June 14, a narrow-format meeting in The Hague, in preparation of the NATO Summit, organized by the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark. The prime ministers of Belgium, Latvia, Poland and Portugal, as well as NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, will also be present, according to a press release issued Monday to Agerpres by the Presidential Administration.
The meeting will take place at the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, and the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, according to the cited source.
The meeting aims at the coordination of the the joint positions and messages of the allied states in view of the NATO Summit in Madrid in late June.
The agenda includes assessing the security situation in Ukraine following Russia’s war of aggression, continuing assistance to Ukraine, preparing for the decisions of the Madrid Summit on strengthening NATO’s deterrence and defense posture on the Eastern Flank of the Alliance, the negotiation process of NATO’s new Strategic Concept and the prospects of Sweden and Finland joining the Alliance, the Presidential Administration said in a release.
